Women Need More Sleep Than Men Because Their Brains Are More Complex, Study Finds

Women everywhere are rejoicing because science has proven what we have always known :. Women need more sleep than men because their brains work more complex

may not seem much, but women on average need about 20 more minutes in bed every night to compensate for the extra processing loads they do.

According to research, as many women have probably noticed already, the brains of women tend to be connected to juggle successfully several tasks simultaneously, while male brains suffer in this capacity .

This is by no means a complete description of all male versus female brains, but simply a conclusion of the midbrain with the support of research.

Professor Jim Horne, director of the Center for Sleep Research at Loughborough University and author of Sleepfaring: a tour of the science of sleep, said:

One of the main functions of sleep is to allow the brain to recover and repair itself. During deep sleep, the cortex – the part of the brain responsible for thought memory, language and so on -. Disengages from the senses and goes into recovery mode

The current study involved 210 men and women whose daily patterns and sleep schedules to determine the cause and effect of middle age.

explained Horne

Most of your brain that used during the day more than it needs to recover and, consequently, the more sleep you need. Women tend to multi-task … and so they use more of their actual brain than men. Because their sleep need is greater. A man who has a complex job that involves a lot of decision making and lateral thinking may also need more sleep than the average male – though probably not as much as a woman still

.

Interestingly, the psychology of the average woman’s brain was also determined to be a significant marker in their quality of sleep as well. For women who were sleep poorly, psychological distress caused by hostility, depression and anger were the main cause of concern, but these same symptoms that were not reported by men who slept badly.

Generally, the recommended amount of sleep people should be getting each night is 6-8 hours. Only each individual can determine what feels right for your body and mental wellbeing. Now that the question of who needs more sleep has been put to bed, here are some tips to improve sleep quality

Establish a sleep routine. Your brain will begin to recognize the routine and automatically start to relax when the routine is started, so it is easier sleep.

Meditation and yoga. Many people engage in conscious and calm to help give your brain a much needed break and get the oxygen flowing to the brain overactive practice.

Melatonin. Taking prescription or non-prescription sleeping pills may seem daunting, but taking natural pills Melatonin is a mild to urge your body so you can sleep way.
