When your pain gets really bad…

Most unfortunately, one in five American adults – especially those between 60 and 69 – will experience pain every day for periods of three months or more. In fact, it is estimated that 39 million Americans are in chronic pain. That’s more than the entire population of California, according to a new analysis Jae Kennedy. There is a difference between acute and chronic pain

Another common type is the psychogenic pain, which can not be attributed to any injury, illness or damage inside or outside the nervous system.

No matter what kind of pain you have, its effects can be all-consuming. But chronic pain can be avoided if you understand the cause and take steps to undo the damage that has been done to your body.

Tips on how to relieve pain and stress

Treatments for chronic pain can include medications and even surgery. Some doctors use placebos. The risk is that some pain medications can have long-term side effects, especially for people who are taking several prescription drugs on a regular basis. For those who have diabetes or heart disease that can compromise your immune system.

Ideally, too, do not want to just control the symptoms, but identifying and treat the cause of your pain.
