Perhaps, it is something sweet like chocolate, or something salty like pretzels. Cravings can come and go sporadically, but actually never take the time to think about what they really mean.

Did you know that our food cravings, as random as they may be, could actually indicate a health problem? It is true, and that is why it is so important to pay close attention to those eager to help discover what is really going on with your body.

Here are five common food cravings that could indicate a health problem.

Water: Craving water, as they are excessive thirst could be an early sign of diabetes. This is due to excess sugar in the blood construction, which means your kidneys have to work harder to filter and absorb the sugar. As a result, what remains is high, dry and thirsty.

Chocolate is a source of magnesium – not the best source but nonetheless a source – so when levels are low, you might be wanting more. In addition, if you are low in B vitamins, eating chocolate gives you a quick boost. Unfortunately, it is not a long drive, so their levels checked and get your magnesium and B vitamins from healthy sources.

Fatty foods: Whether or french fries to burgers, their craving for fatty food could reveal a deficiency of omega-3 fatty acids. However, there are healthier choices fatty foods you can choose from that will not cause problems over time. Opting for salmon, avocado and nuts to boost up your healthy fats and stay away from unhealthy.

A desire here and not much of a big deal, but if your cravings are persistent, consult your doctor to find out what is the culprit.
