Rashes can be extremely uncomfortable and itchy; however, we all know that they should not scratch. But the good thing is that there are many natural home remedies that can help provide relief.

While some rashes may not require treatment and are usually cured by themselves, some may be treated at home. However, others could indicate something more serious. If you opt for conventional treatment to get rid of rashes, your doctor may prescribe lotions, creams or antihistamines for relief. Below, you will find some home remedies that can help treat or relieve skin rashes that cause itching.

Aloe vera: For centuries, the aloe vera plant has been used to treat various problems, including constipation and wound healing. Aloe can offer immense benefits for skin, health and weight. Coconut oil: Often used as a moisturizer on the skin and scalp, coconut oil has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. This oil is rich in saturated fats and has been used as cooking oil for centuries in tropical countries. You can apply coconut oil, preferably raw virgin coconut oil, as it retains its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, throughout the body or only in itchy areas for relief. However, make sure you are not allergic to coconut oil.

Menthol: Menthol, an essential oil found in plants of the mint family, can help relieve pain and itching due to its cooling effect. A 2012 study reported that participants who applied peppermint-infused oil to the itchy areas on the skin experienced a significant reduction in the severity of the itching compared to those who used the other product. According to the NEA, you can drink a quarter cup of baking soda in a warm bath to relieve itchy skin. You can also mix baking soda with a little water to form a paste and then apply directly to the itchy areas.
