Stay busy to improve your mental health


A recent study reveals that people who have a style more active lifestyle are likely to have healthy mental functions, especially above the age of 50. as a person ages his / her mental health deteriorates but a moderately active style can enhance cognitive functions.

Indeed, anyone regardless of age and education may experience better mental health, leading an active life leading to greater brain speed, memory capacity, vocabulary and reasoning.

The study’s lead author Sara Festini, a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Texas in the US, says that people with a daily life busier exhibited better cognitive functions in terms of recall latest information.

Active people tend to take more because they are exposed to many situations and opportunities. The study also suggests that a busy person has much better episodic memory, which is recalling past events and circumstances.

Researchers also offer an explanation of his discovery from a different perspective. It is possible that people with better cognition prefer more active life and both elements complement each other through mutual strengthening.

The researchers conducted a survey of 330 men and women between the ages of 50-89, where their cognitive functions were measured by analyzing the results of neuropsychological testing.

Festini added further that, although the experiment demonstrates the improved mental health due to a busy lifestyle, wider to find out if handling the hustle will have the same outcome research is needed.

The study was published in the journal Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience.
