When I climbed Table Mountain on my last trip to South Africa, the locals told me about an herb that is better than green tea keeps them free of disease .
African Bushmen have used this herb since before recorded history, but it’s still quite rare here in the United States .
Studies of this plant are performed worldwide. But not in the US
Because Big Pharma and the FDA are not interested in natural cure that can not be patented -. Or benefited from
What is this herb in South Africa?
I’m talking about an herb called Rooibos – or red bush Afrikaans. Rooibos (pronounced Roy-boss) offers a lot of health benefits. The most important thing is that 1.2
- Protects against cancer
- Reduces heart disease
- Eases inflammation
- Even crying babies calm down!
Very often prepared as a tea, some people like to compare it with green tea. But it is much better than green tea and more powerful.
Cancer test their cells
Polyphenols are antioxidants in plants that help prevent cancer, improve heart function and mortal combat inflammation. It turns out that Rooibos tea has almost 50% more polyphenols than green tea!
And one of these polyphenols – aspalathin – is only found in Rooibos. The Cancer Association of South Africa calls it “a major source of anti-cancer compounds.” 3
In a pioneering study, researchers fed two groups of mice carcinogen that causes cancer. They gave the first group of pure drinking water. The second group received Rooibos in your water.
What happened next was amazing.
After a few weeks, there was a dramatic difference in the two groups. The mice that drank tap water had tumors angry looking all over your skin. However, the cancer disappeared in mice fed Rooibos! 4
Another study found that the application of Rooibos to mice with tumors of skin cancer reduced by 70%. In fact, manufacturers in other parts of the world are beginning to add Rooibos skin care products such as soaps and sunscreens. 5
Rooibos reduces hardening of the arteries
But Rooibos does more than protect against cancer -. It is also very good for your heart
Researchers in Sweden gave the volunteers two cups of Rooibos tea. In less than an hour, the ACE activity – which is closely linked to cardiovascular disease – was drastically reduced 6
Interestingly, the team could not duplicate this inhibitory effect. ECA with any other tea – including green tea. This tells me that there is something unique about Rooibos!
Another study found that two of the major blood markers that indicate oxidative damage related to the heart decreased to 50% in volunteers who drank six cups of Rooibos every day for six weeks. This means Rooibos can help slow atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. 7
relieve inflammation safely
One of the main causes of any Alzheimer’s – and arthritis to heart disease and cancer – is inflammation . But thanks to its high levels of antioxidants, Rooibos is a powerful anti-inflammatory.
Indeed, Rooibos has the same capabilities busting inflammation of some of the most dangerous painkillers large pharmaceutical companies.
Remember … the drug Vioxx withdrawn arthritis the market in 2004 because it significantly increased the risk of heart attack and stroke?
Well, Vioxx was a COX-2. COX-2 is an enzyme that increases inflammation. The researchers found that the Rooibos inhibits activation of the COX-2 enzyme in human cells -. But unlike dangerous drugs, Rooibos is safe enough to feed a baby
Indeed, back in South Africa, I learned a lot of mothers use Rooibos tea to soothe stomach spasms your baby and colic.
enjoy the benefits of Rooibos home
The rooibos tea is naturally caffeine free. It has a nutty, slightly sweet tastes good with honey or lemon.
Tea is easy to do in a few simple steps. For a cup
- Bring 8 ounces of water to boil in a pot.
- Add 1 to 1 ½ rounded teaspoons Rooibos leaves the boiler. You probably will not find Rooibos in your rack grocery store, but it’s easy to order online grass.
- Let the beer steep for about 5 minutes.
- pour through a strainer tea in your cup and enjoy.
A quick note … You can enjoy the taste of milk in your tea, but I do not recommend it. One study found that adding milk to green tea reduces the availability and effectiveness of antioxidants in the drink. No studies regarding milk and Rooibos, but it is reasonable to assume the same results apply. 8
