I’ve had plenty of reasons to celebrate lately … After throwing my book Celebrate and going on my book tour, it is safe to say that 2016 has been a very festive year so far! And for me, creative cocktails they are the perfect reward to celebrate a major milestone. I like to think of a new cocktail every season, inspired by the flavors and spirits remind me that time of year. With summer coming, and blackberries entering the season, recently I’ve been doing a champagne cocktail blackberry (inspired by this recipe Lark and linen , but with my own twist) is so delicious and fresh. The champagne makes it vibrant and syrup homemade blackberry gives you enough sweetness. And I call it a “cocktail garden” because of the delicate bunch of herbs I collect from my garden and add to each glass.
You can be sure I’ll be celebrating two minor victories and older to come this summer with this pretty take in hand. Here is how to make …
My Blackberry Cocktail Champagne Garden

- 1 bottle of champagne
- 1 cup vodka
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 4 sprigs of lavender
- 4 sprigs thyme
- 4 sprigs rosemary
1. in a small saucepan, heat the 1/3 cup sugar and 1/3 cup water with 1/3 cup of the blackberries to make blackberry syrup. Stir over low heat and let simmer for 8-10 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
2. Distribute syrup four cups or glasses, then fill each glass with crushed ice. Fill each cup with ¼ cup of vodka and complete the rest of the top with champagne, then stir to mix evenly.
3. Now, to make their packages herbs … Take a sprig of lavender, a sprig of thyme and a sprig of rosemary. Group these twigs and tie them together with a small piece of string. Cut the excess thread if necessary, and repeat three times until you have four bunches of herbs.
4. Garnish each glass with a wad of herbs and 2-3 blackberries, and yourself a beautiful (and delicious) batch of cocktails!
