Hi ladies is Anna of Fash Boulevard with another edition of our Ladies Portable series of interviews . focus of this month is a native of Texas who left his job reliable marketing and fled to San Francisco, where one night, while in the throes of dreamland, an idea came to mind soon lead to a brand booming. Part Jordan Jones, the creative genius behind the latest obsession of social media, pic , a company based on the web that allows customers to send or receive packages themed aid, is redefining what it means leaving by one party. Each care package is centered around a life occurrence or theme and includes four fifty-six fun and unique items selected by hand, “ You do not need ’em anyway ” to “ Feel Bedda Soon , “my personal favorite” is thing pampered, you. “Today, Jordan is opened on the struggles of launching a start-up navigation digital media, and how a “” false article Buzzfeed changed everything. Let’s dive in.
Let’s start from the beginning! Where did the idea of the party in the stock market originate and how his dream is pursued?
Part of pic was in a bit of a fun way. I lived in Dallas, TX feel sort of dissatisfied with my work, and had this strange sort of idea in his head that he had to move to San Francisco to do something big with my life. sidebar, I’m fully aware that I sound like every twentysomething, but the difference is that actually acts on what I said I would do! Whoo hoo. Telling my parents my plan to move was comical at the kitchen table one night. They stared at me like I was losing my mind. “Something bigger, huh?” But be as favorable as they are, that encouraged me to go and make my own way … if had a job in San Francisco waiting for me at first that immediately spotted in the heart of Silicon Valley I doing something I do not like, but hey, I got to San Francisco. From here came the pity party because people gathered strongly in a new big city and work so far from where I was living every day. I called my mother one night feeling a little sorry for myself, and my mother is my tough love mom told me I was throwing myself a pity party and I had chosen my situation so I had to make due. I did not know that this would be the best party ever threw compassion, because I went to bed shortly after our conversation and woke up with the idea of sending a package to myself Pity Party. I turned on all the lights in the apartment quarters of my little lady and outlined our logo, business name, and started up with different packages that could send to launch a “party for one.” Ordinary people often consult other business owners, who in a name, look through a business plan several times, but I knew that night when I woke up Part of pic would be one thing, and mine on that. He felt totally sent me to run and I knew there was nothing like it on the market.
When it comes to new business, spreading the word is the key. How to use digital media to take advantage of the full party during those first days?
Spreading the word about a brand that pull nothing is difficult when you’re 23, you have never owned a business before, and um, definitely still have a job in the operation you are paying your bills. Media was my best friend, and luckily for me, my training was in the media and strategic, so I had some ideas about what I had to do … the question was whether it was crazy enough to carry them out. He had a vision and a product, but had to spread the word about him a large scale, at no cost. Does it seem impossible? Apparently not too impossible because I jumped straight into the deep end of the pool to write an article about me (yes, I do not judge) in the Community of BuzzFeed section (no, you can not do this now because there is a massive red line that says “Buzzfeed does not endorse this content or writing” or something like that. I’m sorry!) I know it sounds a little crazy, but I knew no one was going to rely on how big this brand was immediately if I was standing in a soap box preaching about it, so he wrote it as a third party and has more than 3,000 visitors that day alone. It also helped that just published on the Facebook wall every friend she had. Another bold move guess, but I came clean to all my friends and have been very frank about doing this from the beginning. This put pic Party out there in a big way, not to take it back every time. My social media platforms went from zero to hundreds in a few days, and had a small (but powerful) audience curious about this party package that had never been done before. Digital media is huge for brands. The one who can do it in the most creative wins.
How to choose the products within each theme pack?
provisioning packet is fun! There is a mixture of research and references dedicated to each package and, in some cases, produce and create our own Part of pic branded items. Hunting is fun for me, but definitely got easier as we’ve grown and a lot of brands look to be featured in our packages.
How has social media helped grow your brand?
To Part of pic , which had no outside investors to inject money into the business so he could turn around and spend it on sponsored posts or acquisition tons of followers. We have been very lean from the beginning and social media is free, so I knew that if I would use it as the main channel to reach my audience I had to do it in a creative way. I step back from what you are creating and saying, well, where does this living product, what people will be doing or feeling when they receive my product, or ask questions how are you help create a brand. We have built a captive audience of party girls to talk to us, let us know what they want, which ultimately helps us grow as a company. My name is our Instagram the “quilt” and I think it is important that all images play well off each other, and a kind of fall under the same umbrella. I shared this term with some other business owners and laughed, but now I use the word too! If you are in charge of social media for brand everything must be very agile and have the same look, voice, messaging … you get it! It will be much more successful when it is done because someone will see a message in their food and immediately recognize that it is their brand without even looking at who published!
jewelry was recently added to your website with your Doorstep necklace. Can you tell us a little about this new element and how it came about?
I did! I’m still confused about the necklace door. I came up with the concept this summer, when we had the conversation we were really full-steam ahead in making jewelry. I knew it was something new and different, and the first step to extend our brand in more type items lifestyle that simply shouting unique, so we had to make the first element great . The problem was that you can not yell at your brain and say well, come up with something super cool, like, now! A large piece of Part of pic is showing all doors fun to land in or destined for, and we believe that is where the game begins, so that the creation of the stand-up collar tracks perfect sense to us. There were a lot of questions about how we execute logistically numbers of people recorded or where called home in the door, but all kind of fell into place with a lot of hard work. I am excited to continue to build more pieces for our party girls!
What is a day at the office party as pic?
Every day at the headquarters Part of pic is a little different to the next! I think our business looks a lot more fun on social networks than it is in real life sometimes, ha! We receive emails from people asking if we only eat donuts and drinking champagne all day, and the answer is definitely no, but if we do, we work hard to do! We have a lot of fun here, do not take ourselves too seriously, and each day brings a new challenge. We constantly playing music, there is a lot of communication and collaboration between people, ie “not suck this photo?” O “inventory control necessary” so definitely run as a business, but not our own style Party Girl things. I think people would be surprised to know that we do not work with the lights on in here if we can help it! We have incredible light in our office so we use and feel that makes it a more creative environment. I hate hard ceiling lights. This, combined with a teeny view of Golden Gate Bridge and be surrounded by hustling serious women makes it a very inspiring environment. We work hard here and no one passes through our door that is not all in on our brand. This energy is contagious.
Words live right?
“When one door closes another opens” is a quote my mom and dad always told me. Not make the cut in a team, searching for something that I planned for Part of pic goes in a different serious direction, I have learned to adapt to what is happening around and taking everything as a learning experience is crucial. You have this idea of how things have to be and that is when you injure yourself in life. You have to shelve plans sometimes and just say, well, I’m not in control here as much as I want to be and something better is coming my way . Being optimistic is key to running a business or you’ll go crazy on a rainy day. There is always something better around the corner and when something bad happens, it’s better in the works. I believe that.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned since the launch of the party on the Stock Exchange two years ago?
definitely I think I’ve gotten much thicker skin since I started pic . I can remember to seek advice from a successful businessman here in San Francisco and said he was afraid for my idea of being robbed or scammed before it started selling packages, because it was the first in the care package, or space party package to create packages themed life style. The kind of laughed in my face and told me I was lucky to be copied and must share my idea with the world, because if I was not confident enough to know I could do better than anyone I had nothing to do. That conversation never leave my mind. I was always sure that no one could do the best pic I party, I just needed the kick in the butt to remind me at that time and I’m lucky it happened so early. I think it’s important to keep your head down, have confidence in your vision, and just do your thing. I have had sleepless nights, difficult days, and I felt very alone at times early in doing this when I was leaving what other people may think or steal from me dictate my movements. You have to just put your blinders and harden. There is a reason why many businesses fail and so few are successful. Mental toughness is totally a thing if you are going to run a business. It’s nothing personal, just business.
Do you have any advice for young entrepreneurs who hope to start their own business?
definitely out your business idea and the reasons why you’re doing it. For me it was my love of giving gifts and helping people who send something perfect for making someone’s day. Giving the easy thing people gift each other without having to drive around to pay retail prices of items that could not even be found and put in a pretty package with a hand-signed card was the solution to a problem and open for a ton of opportunity. If you’re starting a business you should also ask what the overall objective of the company is. What is the mission? I think we have a clear and public vision goal from the beginning was so key for me in building out in Party Bag way I have, so I knew how to approach things like marketing or what I wanted to put in a package.
