Too busy to exercise is an excuse most people give to escape the gym. Now, scientists have discovered that just a minute intensive exercise is also beneficial to long hours of endurance training.
The lead researcher, Martin Gibala, a professor at McMaster University in Canada, said that an exercise routine a minute is not only time efficient but immensely effective.
The scientists analyzed the effects of interval training sprint (SIT) and carried out a comparative study in regards to moderate continuous training intensively (MICT) by the recommendations of public health guidelines.
The study examined the main factors including insulin sensitivity, cardiorespiratory fitness and body shape balances the sugar levels in the blood.
An experiment was conducted in 27 sedentary people who were asked to do moderate or intense exercise for 12 weeks, 3 sessions per week, while a group of people were told not to exercise at all.
The team had previously exposed the impressive results SIT protocol that included three 20 seconds all out ” cycle sprint. The results are manifested in the form of increased physical vitality and fitness.
Training in the experiment lasted 10 minutes with two minutes of heating, two minutes to facilitate basic bicycle speed tests rigorous and three minutes of cooling.
The study results were compared with people who do 45 minutes of moderate cycling continuously. After a period of 12 weeks, the results were similar, although significantly MICT protocol requires five times more exercise and commitment.
Mr Gibala says that people who are in a time crunch not want to exercise. The interval based workout routine is a useful option for obtaining health benefits in much less time. He added also that few physical activities like climbing stairs after a heavy meal can be very effective in maintaining physical condition itself.
