Amou Haji, an Iranian 80-year-old, called the dirtiest man in the world. In an article published on January 6, he told the Times that Tehran has not bathed in 60 years.
Haji reportedly lives in isolation in the village of Dejgah in the southern Iranian province of Fars, subsists in the rotting flesh porcupine, and says that the idea of a bath after all this time makes him very angry.

Haji not really have a home – the land is their home. He lives in a hole in the ground, like a tomb, to keep grounded and in touch with the reality of life. Sometimes he is sleeping on a brick cottage that villagers built for him by compassion. Locally, it is known as Amou Haji. ‘Amu’ is the Persian term of endearment for an old guy.

Haji is not the only person in the world who hates bathing. There is an Indian man who has not had a bath in 38 years.
It is believed that good health is the result of not bathing. It is hard to argue with. He has not seen a shower in more than 60 years and that seems to be a healthy 80 years.
According to two dermatologists, most Americans actually showering too often. They will note that showering or bathing every day is the result of cultural preferences or social norms, and that humans really only need a bath every time 2-3 days.
Obviously these dermatologists would not recommend not showering for 60 years, but who are we to judge the life of this man? It has been found happiness in the Iranian desert and that’s all that matters.
